San Francisco's Style Experiment

Queen Biker Attack

By modagency · July 19, 2009 · 4 Comments · 32 Views

I'm sorry but if given the chance to direct a male fashion review, oh... I meant fashion show. I would chose the manliest specimen of homos to promote a men's line, (ala Alexander McQueen or DSquared) not some twinks or queens. This runway almost felt like a beauty pageant. Taken during a Skunk Funk runway show held a their retail space on Valencia Street in EsEf. July 2009.

The whole point of the fashion show was to use amateurs. These were employees and friends of employees. Its called street fashion. This is as street as it gets. No pretension. etc..Also, what is wrong with queens, and twinks? That is a very homophobic comment actually, and it is quite an ignorant statement. But, I digress, I would choose the manliest specimen? Again, this is a very homophobic statement and reveals a degree of ignorance which needs to be commented on. In Spain, and most of Europe, men who are effiminate, arent made fun of. You are ridiculeing effiminate gay men? How about drag queens? How about transvestites? Are you gay? Are you a masculine manly homo yourself? or just an ignorant hetero making a ignorant remark?

Oh please, get over it! I'm a very proud gay San Franciscan. I'm a masculine homo. I have stated in the "About"section of this blog that I critique the events and fashion that I attend. I'm not ignorant nor ridiculing the models. I have drag queen and transvestites close friends. If you missed my point which is a constructive opinion, that is your problem. uuummm, excuse me... so you consider Skunk Funk street fashion? Have you heard the joke... Gay or European?

Actually I'm European. My mother was born in Salonika Greece. My aunt lives in Athens and she is a film Director.I was born in this country but I have a European perspective. I know what the joke about Gay or European is, because I have lived in Europe, where some of the most stylish men I knew where heterosexual. This is my point. I was taking the offense in your comment, about how in this country effiminate men in general are ridiculed. I am a more effeminate gay male, some of the stylish gay men I know are on the effeminate side. Its only in this country where sexual orientation matters. I guess I was defensive, only because I was called faggot in high school, for being openly gay and effiminate, so like a lot of gay men I'm very sensitive on this subject. A lot of gay men are bitter because of this persecution, its hard to let go. WHo cares if you are straight or gay? Only people in this country seem to care....and no offense, I'm over it. But thanks for the comment.

You know, what's sexy and fashionable "owning" your own homosexuality, femininity or masculinity. The models were very contrived to the point that they were trying too hard but it was ok, fashion is also entertainment. I'm not certain why do you feel that you have to justify yourself as being European, etc's. Go over and read what you just wrote again and again, you've just implicated your self being a immature and becoming a bitter queen. On how the rest of this country feel about gay people is not my problem. And look, all Europeans that are bitching about America that are living here should return to Europe. Really, what you are bitching about is not really about living "Life".

BTW. Sheri Calvert threw a descent party at their flagship store.
